Bin Laden

Today, the news announced Osama Bin Laden has been killed by US troops. He was, of course, the one who brought down the twin towers on 9-11. He deserved to die.

I am glad he is dead.

I am also a little scared.

I am not scared of the things Al Qaeda might do to us. I am scared of what they have already done to us.

I hear Christians celebrating.

What is wrong with us?  Some part of us that used to reflect the image of God has stopped.

I know it is not the politically correct thing, but I cannot celebrate death.  Anyone’s death.

Jesus died for this man.

I know.  I know.  I watched the towers.  I cried.  I shook my fist.  This man was a monster who deserved to die.

May the God of the resurrection heal His image in me.  May the justice I demand for Bin Laden remind me of the justice I fear for myself.

“May the God of the resurrection heal His image in me. May the justice I demand for Bin Laden remind me of the justice I fear for myself.” Well said, Shepherd.

Bin Laden recieved Justice because he despised Grace. A friend of mine when kids would say that’s not fair would say, “Life’s not fair and be glad it’s not! If it was Jesus would have left you alone instead of going to the cross for you” B.L rejected that open hand and instead got what he deserved instead of what had been offered

    Very well said….Facebook worthy.

@vernon — wondering if OBL despised Grace more than anyone was born to do. he despised Grace as much as i have done (and sadly, sometimes still do), yet by this same Grace i now embrace it. is OBL the author of his damnation as much as God is the author of my salvation?

i raise the question because it seems his death at the hand of the SEALs is deemed justice. for the US, certainly. but for God, not so sure about that. i’m uncomfortable with the notion that the “justice” the US metes out is what is in alignment with God (worth a dialogue about Ro 13, but that’s a tangent…).

This man was an enemy of Christ and his bride.
I believe it was the will of the father that he die.
I will not grieve for him.
    sorry.
